KOREA FROM NORTH TO SOUTH

Weather and climate along your route

A journey through South Korea links three very different regions in Seoul, Busan and Jeju. Conditions can shift considerably between the capital, the southern port and the subtropical island. Comparing them helps plan rail journeys, beach days and hikes. During monsoon and typhoon periods, the hourly rain and wind outlook deserves as much attention as temperature.

Seoul

Seoul has hot, humid summers and cold, dry winters with large seasonal swings. Day-to-night differences are often especially relevant in spring and autumn.

Busan

Busan’s southern coast usually brings milder winters and less extreme temperature changes. Sea breezes, humidity and coastal rain matter more here, however.

Jeju

Jeju’s island setting makes its weather windier, wetter and quicker to change. Mountains amplify local contrasts, so coast and interior may experience very different conditions at the same time.
