WEST COAST MEETS EAST COAST

Weather and climate along your route

A trip or series of appointments across Los Angeles, San Francisco and New York spans not only three time zones but very different climates. The two West Coast cities sit relatively close yet can feel dramatically different, while New York follows another weather pattern altogether. Comparing them helps with flights, outdoor plans and packing a wardrobe that works at every stop. Fog, wind, humidity and rain can matter just as much as temperature.

Los Angeles

Los Angeles is generally dry and sunny, but temperatures vary sharply between coast and inland districts. Hot Santa Ana winds can further increase heat, dryness and fire risk.

San Francisco

San Francisco’s cool Pacific water encourages fog, wind and surprisingly low apparent temperatures, especially in summer. Travelling only a few kilometres can produce a major temperature change.

New York

New York combines hot, humid summers with cold winters and precipitation throughout the year. Passing fronts often create faster and more pronounced changes than on the California coast.
